ikan in 2010

The following post is from ikan’s own engineer, Michael Webb.

A lot of people at the end of the year sit back with friends and family reminisce about the previous year and at some point, lift a glass of champagne and toast to the year that lies in wait.  People make resolutions, hoping to not only prosper in the New Year, but also become a better person along the way. This year is a little more special in that it also marks the end of a decade.  2009 has the dubious honor of being the last year in what Time magazine calls the worst decade in a generation.

ikan feels a little bit different.  At the turn of the century Ikan didn’t exist, in fact the decade was almost half over before what we know today to be ikan formally came together.   Over the last 6 years Ikan has come a long way. To us it was a wonderful decade filled with challenges, new friends and lots of wonderful opportunities. We started with a crew that could easily be counted on one hand.  Our first NAB show in 2005 found us in a 10×20 booth with four employees and by 2009 we had tripled our booth size and doubled our staff. Each year we added to, and improved our product range. We have kept our promise to bring affordable quality tools to the customers. This philosophy has served us well and we plan to carry on with those ideas by introducing some new innovative products.

In the first quarter of 2010 we will begin to ship our new Ikan elements series. The Ikan elements will allow you to mount many of your ikan products in convenient, Innovative and affordable ways.  In the first quarter should also see new monitors. We have completely redesigned our monitor line and will add new 8.9 inch and 7 inch monitors featuring SDI and blue gun capabilities.  The new SDI capabilities will then be applied to other monitors later in the year. We have new several new lighting products coming out and you should see those in the first two quarters.

We are especially excited about a new portable LED light created with the event videographer in mind. Our Teleprompters are getting revised to make the easier to assemble and mount.  We will introduce a new line of carry bags and cases.  We are also improving our teleprompter software and will introduce some new software only products aimed at online communications, conferencing and blogging.  As you can see 2009 was a busy year for us to get all of these products ready for market and 2010 looks to be just as exciting and exhausting .  We eagerly await the New Year and lift our eyes to the future hoping you will join us for another wonderful decade.
